Andy Warhol’s “Green Car Crash”—
Recently sold for 71.72 million dollars
Even more than his ”Lemon Marilyn”

The result of a car chase—
Here in Seattle ending up with
A young man harpooned by a spike

Left hanging from a telephone pole—
The stolen car a smoking wreck below
A grisly icon for voyeurs ever since

A gnarly twisted metallic face—
Surrealistically stares from the wreckage
Glowering from the Warhol collage

Do machines hate us?—
Do they envy our blood & guts Existence?
Do they get off on bloody car crashes?

Are cars homicidal killers?—
Is “Green Car Crash” a homoerotic crime?
Was the kid on the pole a victim?
